Cub Scouts
Welpen
8 - 10 years old
Theme
Theme based on R. Kipling's 'Jungle Book', stories about Mowgli, a child raised by wolves. The animals in the story play a symbolic role in Mowgli's education.
World of experience
Age: from 8 to 10
The child starts to pay attention to social relationships. Friends are chosen carefully, groups are formed. 'To have no friends' is a bad thing ...
Games are of vital interest. Cubs have an inborn talent to project themselves into situations and persons. Have you already noticed how heatedly cubs react when someone is cheating?
Or how severely punished the 'bad' guy leaves the wood?
Natural competition rears its head. The child wants to measure its strength (or to surpass himself) e.g. to climb even higher in that tree or spitting those cherry stones even further.
Working method
Games, whether or not in the jungle theme, are the most important activity in a cub pack. So we offer them a wide variety: adventure, creativity, sports, information ... The cub pack is divided into small groups in order to stimulate teamwork and play through activities. Assuming (small) responsibilities is encouraged. Experienced cubs can help the chieftains steering the game with the young ones into the right channels.
